A Vital Role

Volunteers play a vital role at Hope’s Door New Beginning Center.  Each year, hundreds of people donate thousands of hours to help us provide safety, shelter, healing, and hope to families affected by domestic abuse.  COVID-19 has impacted how we are currently engaging our volunteers. Personal safety for our clients, staff and volunteers is a priority. We are limiting onsite volunteer opportunities at our outreach offices and emergency shelters in order to ensure this safety. Please see the current opportunities we have for volunteers listed below.

  • Prepare meals for the women and children in our shelters

How to Get Started

New volunteers complete the individual volunteer application, background check (if 18 years of age or older), and attend one new volunteer orientation session before volunteering. Orientation sessions last approximately 1 hour. To attend orientation, both the application and background check must be completed. Due to COVID 19, orientation sessions will be offered virtually via Zoom meeting until further notice. The Zoom meeting link will be emailed prior to each session to those who have completed both the application and background check. Email Beth Leos, bleos@hdnbc.org for more information.  Scroll down for links to the volunteer application and background check.
